Light Rail Testing in Mesa…

Posted by robtherealtor on June 14th, 2008

Live wires and train testing coming soon to Mesa according to www.RailLife.com .

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am excited about the Light Rail system.  I’m looking forward to riding to sporting events in the down town area, not having to drive into and out of the Airport to travel, and it also happens to go right by the Phoenix Association of REALTORs (R) on 19th Ave and Camelback.

What do you anticipate using it for?

Solar may get a boost from Greater Phoenix Economic Council

Posted by robtherealtor on June 7th, 2008

Arizona has many resources, but one we may or may not think about everyday is our abundant amount of sunshine.  Light is energy and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council would like the state to provide incentives for manufacturers of solar technology to bring their research and production facilities here.  This research is invauable in the development of cleaner energy technology, but I think that we should go a step further and incentivize builders, both commercial and residential, to just build the solar systems right into their new construction.  What do you think?  Click the “comment” button below to respond.

Did You Know These Trees?

Posted by robtherealtor on February 13th, 2008

The Western Area Power Administration has taken out about a dozen trees along the “Cactus Walk” in East Mesa, citing thier proximity to the Federally maintained high voltage transmission system as the reason.  Do you use this trail?  Did this have to be done this way?  Is the damage to the trail significant?  I invite your comments.

Waveyard coming to Mesa!

Posted by robtherealtor on December 10th, 2007

I’m getting started on this post just a little late, but in case you didn’t know, Mesa residents voted to approve the Waveyard complex. The location will be in the SE corner where the Loop 202 (Red Mountain) & Loop 101 meet:

The official site during the Pre-voting was www.YesOnWaveyard.com and is still up and has really good information regarding water reclamation, conservation and other measures that will be taken to reduce waste. The official site is www.waveyard.com.

Found this post from SurferVillage.com that was really positive about the waveyard project.

Park activities will include surfing, kayaking, rafting, snorkeling, a beach, scuba diving, wakeboarding, rock climbing and canyoneering. Also associated will be many shops and eateries.

Not everyone is happy. This post from Treehugger.com has a different set of numbers for water usage than the official site does. And this gal is cranked about the double standard - cities requesting residents conserve water while allowing, nay inviting and funding an entire water oriented amusement to use all of the water we saved.

If the Waveyard people’s numbers work out, they will use less water annually than the golf course that is there now. I’m not for wasting, but I’m also a lousy golfer.
